The awards were held May 11 near London, England, and featured the best resources to equip and empower Christians around the world.

This award comes on the heels of another major accolade given to Glo, which was also named 2010 Bible of the Year by the Evangelical Publisher’s Association earlier this month. Our team is humbled and excited.

The Glo team sends a big “thanks” to the Christian Resource Awards, and everyone who shares our vision to connect people to God’s Word!

“Technology has always been a means of bringing the word of God to people. The first use of the printing press was to publish the Bible. The goal of Glo all along was to bring the Bible to where people are in today’s digital age and in a form they find captivating and easy to use, Saba said.”

An invention that could fill church pews with people reading iPads instead of Bibles, the interactive Glo Bible brings God’s Word to life with high-definition video and documentaries, high-resolution images, maps users can zoom in on, 360-degree virtual tours and many other features.

Recently released by Zondervan, the groundbreaking Glo Bible combines traditional Bible text with interactive materials, allowing people to see and feel the Bible rather than just read it. The three-DVD set costs about $79 and features five different lenses for easy navigation. The Bible, atlas, timeline, media and topical features create an entirely new experience through the digital exploration of the biblical world.

Glo users have the ability to take virtual reality tours of Jerusalem in the times of Christ then view how it appears today, explore the Sistine Chapel in high definition or customize a reading plan according to their interests.
Nelson Saba, Glo co-creator and chief executive officer of Immersion Digital in Orlando, Fla., says Glo explores the incredible potential of interactive media, the preferred media of the new generations. “If you look at biblical literacy among the younger generations, it’s very, very low because most of what you have today in terms of digital Bibles is geared toward Bible students and scholars, but Glo is geared to really be the alternative to the paper Bible,” Saba says. “This generation would prefer to go to church with an iPad running Glo, and that’s one of the platforms we are targeting.”

By offering the Bible in a format younger generations are accustomed to, Saba says he hopes the Glo Bible will bring fathers and sons, and mothers and daughters, together to read God’s Word. “The big hope I have with this product is [that] we’ll re-engage this generation and bring them back to the Bible like the older generations,” Saba says.

One of the enhanced features included in today’s 1.7.0 release of Glo is a “select all” tool in the media lens. When viewing search results or clicking a media container, Glo often delivers large sets of results. By clicking the “All” button located in the bottom of each column, you will instantly select everything in that column and bring up the wheel menu to manipulate those items.

For example, the results for the topic of “marriage” includes more than 100 Scripture passages. Now, you can press “All” in the Scripture column to select them and create a reading plan, view in the Bible lens, or filter the results further.

By popular request, we added another handy feature to the media lens: Scripture search results now display in your selected Bible translation. Simply set your default translation in the Bible lens and Glo does the rest!

Version 1.7.0 also includes other feature enhancements that make your Glo experience more smooth, robust and stable.

What do you think of the new “select all” feature?

We’ve created an Easter experience using social media platforms that we’re excited about sharing with you. You don’t even need to own a copy of Glo to participate. Our goal is to bring the story of the Passion Week to life, and help us all remember the events in a fresh and powerful way.

We’ll be doing a special series of tweets and facebook updates that recount the events of the Passion Week as they happened.

In addition, Glo has created a media-rich gallery of scripture and images that retell the story of Christ’s death, burial and resurrection in moving detail. This gallery includes high-resolution graphics and images that you can share on Facebook, Twitter or just by sending a link to a friend.

And it’s just a sample of the content you’ll find in Glo, which combines the traditional text of the Bible with a variety of enhancing materials: HD video and documentaries, high-resolution images, zoomable maps, 360-degree virtual tours and more. Five navigation lenses (The Bible, atlas, timeline, media and topical lenses) allow you to explore the Bible and Glo’s content in multi-faceted ways.

If you’d like to go further with the Easter experience online, we’ll be using Facebook as the place to open up discussion and field related questions. It will also house links to all three places Glo’s Easter experience is available.

Follow us on Twitter, friend us on Facebook and check out the Easter gallery starting on Friday, March 26th as we begin celebrating the Passion Week.
